I wrote a review for this book under the paperback category. Personally, I prefer the coil bound book since I found the workbook format incredibly useful.
I don't know anyone who is dying at the moment, but I carry this book in my purse at all times anyway. I never know when I will encounter someone who is actively experiencing a loved one at the end of life. This book is essential and I am so glad that I have been able to share what I've learned from it with others.
Mr. Sapienza is a brilliant, compassionate being who shares his knowledge and experience with his readers to enable them to bring the best they can offer to their loved ones at the end of life.
I took some thanatology classes in college and I got more out of this book than I did from my textbooks. It's one thing to learn about death and dying in theory. In this book, Mr. Sapienza puts the subject into practical, common sense use.
This book is beautifully written and touches the inner most part of the heart. Anyone who works with or gives cares to the dying needs to read this book. You and those you care about will be glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars This is a must have for families and friends of the dying   August 17, 2004

This book is a must have for any family care giver or professional looking for a way to help with end of life issues. The format allows the caregiver to be guided through the end of life process and to think about caring for their loved one in ways that would never occur to someone who has not been involved in the end of life process. The design of the book is innovative. It allows for caregivers to journal their thoughts and feelings and to have something to look back on. I also had the opportunity to hear Mr. Sapienza speak and I am in awe of his sensitivity and compassion in an arena that is so often hard for us to enter. I work with family care givers and often give this book to them to begin their journey with their loved ones.

4 out of 5 stars Essential for Vigiling the Dying....   May 15, 2007

This book is a *godsend* to those who are attending the dying..I not only use this book with my own patients as they prepare to make their transition out of the body in to what comes next..I also use and recommend it as a text in several Conscious Living and Dying classes I teach.Personally I prefer the spiral bound edition for ease of use..It is also helpful in referencing back to facilitate healing during the bereavement processes of friends and family.
